How to restore ClickUp data

Written by ProBackup

This article explains which data types ProBackup can restore for ClickUp and any known limitations.

Lists

When you restore a list, a new list is created in the original folder or space. All tasks, comments, files, and custom fields are restored with it. If the original folder no longer exists, a new folder is created automatically.

Due to API restrictions, formula fields cannot be restored and will be skipped.

Tasks

When you restore a ClickUp task, you have two options:

Option 1: Restore as new records

Creates a copy of the selected tasks in the original list. All subitems, comments, files, and custom fields will be restored as well. This is the safest option and does not affect any existing ClickUp tasks.

Note: Text formatting in the description and recurring dates will not be restored. Watchers are not backed up and cannot be restored.

Option 2: Overwrite existing records

Updates existing tasks with the backed-up field values. Use this to roll back changes to a task that still exists in your list. When you select "Overwrite existing records", a field picker appears. Select which columns you want to overwrite.

Docs

When you restore a Doc, the restored version includes the version date appended to the name.

Comments

When you restore a comment, a duplicate is created in the related task.

Files

When you restore a file, it is added to the related task.

Custom fields

When you restore a custom field, a duplicate is created in the related list. All field values for existing tasks are restored as well.

Note: After restoring a custom field or list, you may need to add the custom fields to your view manually.
