How to back up Jira or Confluence with a personal access token

Written by ProBackup

If you're unable to install the ProBackup app from the Atlassian Marketplace, you can set up your backup using a personal access token instead. Contact our team and provide the following information.

1. Email address

Provide the email address associated with the Atlassian account you're using to generate the token.

2. Base URL

You can find this in your browser's address bar when viewing any Jira or Confluence page. It looks like: https://yourcompany.atlassian.net

3. Personal access token

Follow these steps to create your token:

  1. Under "API tokens", click Create and manage API tokens.

  2. Click Create API token.

  3. Enter a name (e.g. "ProBackup ") and set the expiry date to one year from now (the maximum allowed).

  4. Copy the token.

Once you have your token, send it to [email protected] via a secure link. We recommend using a service like onetimesecret.com to share it safely. Our team will configure the connection for you.
