Understanding Data Retention in ProBackup

ProBackup keeps your backup data for a specific length of time, known as the data retention period. To manage this, we distinguish between two types of data: Versions and Deleted Items.

Depending on your subscription plan, the retention period for both Versions and Deleted Items can be set to 6 months, 2 years, or 4 years. You can configure your preference on the Data Retention page in your account settings.

What are Versions?

Each time a record is updated in your connected application, ProBackup creates a new "version" in your backup. To optimize storage, older versions are automatically deleted after they pass the retention period, as long as a newer version of that item still exists.

What are Deleted Items?

If a record is deleted from your application, ProBackup archives it rather than immediately removing it from your backup. This deleted data is securely stored for the entire retention period. Once that period ends, the data is permanently removed from our servers.
