Understanding how your data storage is calculated can help you manage your backup usage effectively. This article provides a breakdown of how your total storage is calculated.
Record Storage
Each unique record within your backup is counted only once toward your data usage. On average, a single record takes up approximately 15KB of data. This size accounts for all associated data, including multiple revisions and encryption.
File and Attachment Storage
Files and attachments typically make up the vast majority of your data storage, generally between 90-95%. The storage for files is calculated based on their byte size as is.
Deleted Items and Retention Settings
When records or files are deleted from your source application, they are still retained in your backup. These deleted items will continue to count toward your total data storage until they are permanently cleared from the backup based on your retention settings.
